Books for Africa
Center for Leadership & Civic Engagement in partnership with Better World Books has established the Books for Africa Program. This program allows students to donate used textbooks to Books for Africa and be used in developing countries. This is a national non-profit organization which has been established at over 300 U.S. colleges.
The goal of the program is to collect as many books as possible and then get them shipped to the Better World Books Organization. These books are used to raise funds to buy the specific books which schools and teachers in their established African partners need for their students. There is also an environmental advantage here as Better World Books saved over 1 million lbs. of used books from ending up in landfills across the United States.
Please donate your books today! Visit the following websites for more information http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=562304143 and or www.Betterworldbooks.com. Thank you for your support in making a difference in the lives of students and children all over Africa.
Get Carded
Get Carded, a college based program to educate students, faculty and staff about the importance of organ and tissue donation, emerged at USF in 1999. Get Carded is dedicated to spreading awareness and clearing up
misconceptions about donating at events such as the annual Living Green Ribbon and this year's 'Thanks for Giving'. Students involved are passionate about reaching as many people as possible and helping them make the decision to give the 'gift of life' by becoming educated about donation.
Get Carded is a signature program of the Florida Coalition on Donation, and is supported locally by LifeLink and the Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement. Established in 1997 by TransLife and the University of Central Florida, Get Carded is now active at six universities, including University of South Florida, Florida Atlantic University, University of Florida, University of North Florida and Florida State University.
